Hello, We have an urban farm in the heart of Detroit, Fisheye Farms. Part of the mission of our farm is to build strong community in our neighborhood. One way in which we achieve this is by actively involving the neighborhood kids at the farm and in other outdoor pursuits. For example, this is past winter my daughter and son in-law took a few kids skiing. Almost daily, the kid's are hanging out on the farm learning about crops, soil and farming tasks. This summer my son in-law, Andy, would like to take several of the boys on a camping trip, a new outdoor adventure for the kids. Does REI have a program for borrowing camping gear for such an endeavor? Thanks for your time. Barb

Thanks for reaching out and for all your work to help kids enjoy the outdoors!
The co-op does have a community gear donation program; through it, we work to support US 501(C)3 non-profit organizations whose missions are focused on caring for and increasing access to outdoor recreation places and/or connecting people to the outdoors through human-powered activities.
Requests that align with this mission are eligible for co-op branded gear donations, but the budget is limited and we are unable to serve every request. In general, REI's gear donation decisions are made by our teams in our retail stores, so for requests that align with our giving strategy, please contact yourlocal REI store.
At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.
