Boycott of or not selling certain products.

I think it’s ridiculous for REI to cow down under pressure for PC purposes. To no longer carry outdoor gear like Camelbak because it’s owned by another company that makes a rifles and has connections with the NRA is ludicrous. That’s a slippery slope you’re going down. Are you going to stop carrying Yeti products because of their ambassadors are hunters and rodeo stars.

REI carries shot glasses. Isn’t that promoting alcohol consumption. Alcohol is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths every year!!!

@harmbrust the decision to pause orders with Camelbak wasn’t for “PC” reasons. After the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, in 2018, Vista Outdoor, which owned Camelbak at the time, chose not to engage in the national conversation about common-sense gun safety. We felt that engaging in the national conversation was the responsible thing for them to do, especially in light of the actions that companies like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Walmart and others had taken.

REI isn’t anti-hunting and we’re not opposed to the Second Amendment. We have a lot of employees and members who enjoy hunting.

As you might have seen, the co-op resumed orders with Camelbak and several other brands back in July.

At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.
