I have an older set of these poles with the Push-Button lower pole. While thepush button works with the lower pole extended, when I try to get the lower pole to slide into the middel pole, after releasing the Push Button, it will not go.

Unfortunately, without seeing the poles in person it is very challenging to make a diagnosis. It could be that there is an internal piece out of place that is jamming the mechanism when the pole is collapsed. If you feel up to it, you can carefully disassemble the pole sections and use a flashlight to look inside and see if you can ascertain the issue. Otherwise we recommend taking your trekking poles to your local REI store and having them take a look.
I hope this helps, good luck!
