I'm in search of a traveling inflatable air mattress to check in luggage and use in hotels. I have chronic lower back issues and suffer on hotel mattresses. Tempa -pedic travel foam mattresses are too large to haul on a Camino de Santiage walking tour.
Please share what you know about the Therma Rest products for this application.
Are you placing the pad on top of the hotel mattress or do you intend to sleep on the hotel floor on the air pad? This will affect the thickness and need for insulation...
Are you hoping to travel with the pad in your carry-on luggage or are you able to put it in your checked luggage? This will affect how big of a pad you can accommodate when it's not inflated...
Two other questions to consider will be (a) how you feel about needing to blow up a pad vs. having one that self-inflates and (b) do you have a preference for how it feels to sleep on air vs. foam? You may not know these yet, and if possible, heading into one of our stores to test these 2 features could be really helpful!
Hope this gets you started!
