Hi @warto ! Thanks for reaching out. Let's see what we can do. Are you looking for a backpack for overnight backpacking? And it sounds like you want to have access to the main compartment by some means other than just the top. Many adult backpacking packs will have the ability to have a second compartment in the bottom that allows for accessing the main compartment through there as well.

Equally important is to get properly sized for your new pack. It can be easy to identify the right features you want in a pack, but we need to make sure the make/model fits you well. If you can, I would recommend getting fit by one of our experts either by walking in to a location, setting up an outfitting appointment, or checking out our online how-to for sizing and fitting a pack.

Whew, that's a lot of info! Let us know if this helps or how else we can help. See you out there!

@warto thanks for reaching out! In addition to the information @REI-EricP provided, when you're looking at backpacking packs on, along the left side of the search, you can select different options to search by, one of those being "Pack Loading." If that front-zip option is really important to you, this search criteria will help narrow your choices. You can also select, under "Features," the option for a sleeping bag compartment. Hope this helps!

Hey there!

You've gotten some great advice from @REI-EricP and @REI-JenK but I wanted to jump in with a couple of examples of packs that might fit your needs:

I use an REI Co-op Trail 40 pack that I really love. It is comfortable, carries a load well, and straddles that day pack/overnight pack line really well. Additionally, it has a zipper system that allows you to access the body of the pack without having to open it from the top.

Another one you may want to check out is the Mystery Ranch Scree 32 Pack. They have a zipper design on their packs that might be just what you're looking for.

Thanks for reaching out, best of luck!
