As the days start getting shorter, temperatures drop a little faster, and the sound of holiday music starts filling the air, you know we've reached November. For some, this means adding on an extra layer before their run, for others, it means getting reacquainted with their favorite winter activities. However you choose to enjoy the outdoors, we applaud your continued sense of adventure!

And for those parts of the country that participate in daylight saving time, this is a friendly reminder for you to set those clocks back one hour this weekend.

What's new in Conversations?

In preparation for snow season, we're hosting a special Q&A with REI Co-op Brands Senior Designer, Britt Berg. Not only is she sharing details about our current Snow Gear Collection, she's answering any questions you have about the products and their designs, too. See what you've missed and add to the conversation before it closes on November 4th!

When we asked members to share their stories for an upcoming REI campaign, you all had some awesome responses. Read on to see how being an REI Co-op Member has enriched lives, led to new friendships, and encouraged the community to get outside, try new things, and/or discover more of the outdoors.

Topic highlights for the month.

What are your favorite tarp pitches? (@Tim_DeBoer)
Waist pack or no? (@KatyHall)

What is this mushroom? (@AngiePaddlesandMore)

In case you missed it:

For those of you who are trying to get a head start on your seasonal shopping, be sure to check out our newly published Holiday Gift Guide. If you're still undecided, gifting an REI Co-op Membership is always a good way to go!

For the seventh year in a row, the co-op will close its doors on Black Friday to #OptOutside. This day is more than closing our doors and pausing online transactions. It is a chance to come together to build a more equitable and inclusive outdoor culture. This year we are highlighting our incredible grantees doing work to connect people, create space, and center health outside. It's because of organizations like these that REI created the Cooperative Action Fund — to give all of us more ways to support them and build the future together.

We would love to hear what you and your family and friends are doing this year to opt outside. An inclusive outdoors may feel far away, but thanks to the work of many, it gets closer every day.

A big thanks to each of you for making this community such a fun, engaging, and helpful place. We can't wait to see what you're up to in the month ahead.

Thanks,
The Conversations Team
