EDC: Every Day Carry and Every Day Carry While Travelling

Whatchu got in your pockets, and if your clothes typically don't have pockets because of some BS hetero patriarchal scam to make you buy purses, just know I feel for you, and will gladly carry your snacks for you.

This is my usual carry, depending on what I'm doing or what state I am in. (A lot of stuff gets cut and swapped out while backpacking for instance)

Horween Homemade Wallet
Modified Benchmade Griptillian with AWT Scales
S1R Baton Olight
Vintage Uncle Henry Pocket Knife (When they were still made in the USA)

Sig P365x
Spare Mag
Federal HST 9mm
MIE IWB Kydex Holster with Claw
Bic Lighter
Iphone book (normally the smallest book that I am currently reading)

Ha! No. I had mentioned that that isn't what I carry when backpacking. And @TomIrvine , I MAKE room for snacks!

Hmmm, I follow a couple of EDC boards, but I've never enumerated a pocket dump... Lets see.

  • Eyeglasses on lanyard around my neck
  • Cloth Covid mask tied around my neck (can't stand the behind the ears ones for more than 30 min)
  • Wallet - leather Fossil including:
    • General wallety stuff
    • Welly Bravery Badges
    • An emergency Uncle Benjamin in a separate fold from the cash
  • Work phone and Personal phone on belt holsters.
  • Leatherman Wave Plus with bit kit and bit drive extender in Leatherman belt holster along with:
    • Shortie Sharpie marker
    • Olight i3TEOS
  • Key ring with keys and
    • Leatherman Squirt P4
    • Uncle Bills Sliver Grippers
    • NiteIze Doohicky Tool (black)
    • NiteIze G-series dual gate carabiner
    • Victorinox folding nail trimers
    • Micro Bison tube with (5) 200 mg Vitamin I (Ibuprofen)
  • CRKT K.I.S.S 5500k in (worn) black
  • eyeglass cleaning cloth
  • Bluetub Blistex lip medic (also helpful for fire starting)
  • Bluetooth headphones
  • Leather biz card wallet with cards and
    • foamy ear plugs
    • small ferrocerium rod
    • NiteIze figure 9
    • Four feet of paracord with sharpie marks every 12 inches.
    • Fischer Space pen with touchscreen end thingy
  • handkerchief

I often add a BLF A6 18650 light in a pocket on a clip if I'm wearing cargo pants, but I'm in dress slacks today, so less room.

Yes - Every day. When backpacking, some of this gets put in the pack, but I would add a Mora Knife. Work phone gets LEFT BEHIND!

My computer bag carries a 'few' extra pieces of gear, and there is seasonal appropriate emergency gear in my car, along with a first aid kit.

I will also carry (and eat) your snacks. 😁

My EDC

  • Cloth Covid mask I received from friends mother (~2 years)
  • 7-1 Skeletool - Stainless Steel (15 years) gifted my 10 yo daughter my Leatherman Micra (18 years)
  • Distil Wally Junior - MagSafe wallet - Brown (1 year, replaced wallet that was 12 years old)
    • 3 CC, 3 bills of cash
  • Nite Ize S-biner #2 - Orange (3 years, replaced generic O-ring)
    • Photon Micro-Light (5 years)
    • house key
    • car key 1 or 2, depending on use
  • iPhone 12 mini 64GB (~1 year, replaced iPhone SE 1st gen, ~4 years)

On vacations and day trips

  • Osprey Ultralight Stuff Back Backpack - Shadow Grey (2+ years)
  • Klean Kanteen Classic Stainless Steel Water Bottle 27 oz - Black (6 years)
  • Klean Kanteen Insulated TKWide 12 OZ - Black (3 years)
  • Daiso/Moleskin Pocket Notebook
  • generic pen
  • Generic foam ear plugs
  • AirPods Pro (~2 years)

who knew "EDC" was a thing!? Learn something new every day.

Hmmm... see if I can remember it all (I've been up cooking for tomorrow all day and my memory is as fried as the onions going into one of my dishes...)

On my person:

  • Civivi Dogma folder
  • Keychain with a kubaton (aluminum, to break a car window in emergency)
  • Garmin Instinct
  • iPhone and earbuds
  • LEUCHTTURM 1917 journal (dot grid)
  • Fountain pen (another passion, so I carry different ones based on mood and color of ink I want)

In an EDC Pouch:

  • 30' of 770 Paracord
  • Multi-tool
  • Lighter and cigar cutter
  • a small amount of emergency cash
  • Tactical flashlight
  • Rudimentary first aid kit (I carry a full kit in my vehicle)
  • Carmax lip balm
  • Eyeglass cloth
