Dear REI Affiliates,<\/p>\n

As you may have heard, this Black Friday, all of REI\u2019s 143 stores will be closed. You read that right\u2026the doors of our bricks-and-mortar operations, distribution centers and headquarters will be shut. We\u2019re paying our 12,000 employees to take the day off and head into the outdoors.<\/p>\n

More than that, we\u2019re inviting the nation to #OptOutside with us and reconnect with family and friends. We launched REI.com\/opt-outside<\/a>, where our employees have already suggested places for people to visit and enjoy. Many of those places are trails that nonprofits, government partners and REI colleagues have helped to create and maintain.<\/p>\n

Our website REI.com<\/a> will have #OptOutside messaging on Thanksgiving and Black Friday encouraging everyone to get outside.<\/p>\n

To help support #OptOutside, we ask that you\u00a0do not\u00a0include the REI brand in any Black Friday-related communications, including promotions, messaging, newsletters or Black Friday pages.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to working with you on Cyber Monday and beyond.<\/p>\n
