Actor Nick Offerman appears in the new film \u201cA Walk in the Woods<\/a>,\u201d based on the best-selling book by Bill Bryson, as none other than an REI employee helping the film\u2019s stars prepare to hike the Appalachian Trail.<\/p>\n

Nick seemed so at home in his green vest on the sales floor, we wonder if he may have missed his true calling as an REI employee. Here are seven reasons why Nick would fit right in.<\/p>\n

1. He appreciates the art of paddle sports as much as we do\u2014or maybe even more. So much so that he hand-built his first canoe in 2013, an 18-foot-long wooden gem named Lucky Boy<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

2. He\u2019s spent many years thinking about parks\u2014and also recreation\u2014just like us.<\/p>\n

3. He encourages people to take time to appreciate nature and simple moments. In a past Reddit \u201cAsk Me Anything\u201d he shared this wisdom:<\/p>\n

With all of the visual distraction constantly inundating us in the form of our devices and screens, I really derive a great deal of pleasure from watching the sun rise and set, admiring clouds as they change shape across the sky, watching tree leaves and blossoms undulate in the breeze…these treats foment an ocular-cleansing refreshment to my way of thinking.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

4. He understands the importance of \u201cleave no trace<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

5. The shade of our green vests really brings out the beauty of his verdant eyes.<\/p>\n

6. He’s also a Bill Bryson<\/a> fanboy.<\/p>\n

7. Everyone has a go-to green-vest employee at their local store that they recognize and depend on for gear recommendations and trail advice\u2014not to mention facial grooming inspiration. He fits that profile.<\/p>\n
