just 20 miles in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/aztrail.org\/explore\/passages\/passage-1-huachuca-mountains\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Huachuca Mountains<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/aztrail.org\/explore\/passages\/passage-16-gila-river-canyons\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gila River Canyons<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in central Arizona\u00a0follows the river it is named for through some of the most spectacular geology and Sonoran Desert vegetation in central Arizona.\u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Walk from rim to rim in Grand Canyon National Park in northern Arizona and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/aztrail.org\/the-trail\/trail-finishers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">receives a copper belt buckle from the Arizona Trail Association<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a completion award.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The AZT passes through Grand Canyon, with an average depth of 1 mile. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The highest point of the trail is the Kaibab Plateau, at 9,148 feet.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>The AZT passes through the largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest in North America.<\/li>\n<li>Eighty-five percent of the AZT is on federally owned land and the trail could not exist without public
