And that\u2019s great\u2014you\u2019re getting out there. But sometimes, it\u2019s nice to shake things up, pick a legendary trail you\u2019ve always wanted to explore and make a trip out of it. Thanks to trail-building efforts around the country, there are even newly built trails you can add to your must-run list. Here are six trails worth running the next time you feel like venturing out of your neighborhood, plus a few tips on things to do and places to stay while you\u2019re there.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Gold Valley Rim Trail<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sierra Buttes, California<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><!-- BEGIN Trail Run Project --><br \/>\n<iframe style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 1200px; height: 410px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/widget?v=3&amp;map=1&amp;type=trail&amp;id=7052086&amp;x=-12597883&amp;y=4465560&amp;z=6\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- END Trail Run Project --><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A much-anticipated new 6.5-mile section of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcta.org\/2017\/new-pacific-crest-trail-sierra-buttes-54197\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">opened last fall<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in California\u2019s Sierra Buttes, a stunning, remote wilderness area about an hour north of Tahoe. The process of relocating the trail and building several miles from scratch began in 2008 and took years to complete. You can run a 5.3-mile section, called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/trail\/7052086\/gold-valley-rim-trail\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gold Valley Rim Trail<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, that includes 2 miles of the brand-new singletrack plus 3 miles of the former PCT route, with stellar views of the jagged Sierra Buttes and the entire Lakes Basin region. Camp at the nearby <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.recreation.gov\/camping\/salmon-creek\/r\/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&amp;parkId=75430\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Salmon Creek Campground<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, take a plunge in the Yuba River and after your run, grab an oversize sandwich on homemade bread from a food truck called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eatatbreadandbutter.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bread &amp; Butter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> near the town of Graeagle. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Dale Ball Trails<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Santa Fe, New Mexico<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><!-- BEGIN Trail Run Project --><br \/>\n<iframe style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 1200px; height: 410px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/widget?v=3&amp;map=1&amp;type=trail&amp;id=7003357&amp;x=-12597883&amp;y=4465560&amp;z=6\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- END Trail Run Project --><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/directory\/8009344\/dale-ball-trails\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dale Ball Trails<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a popular 22-mile network of linking trails outside of Santa Fe in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, aren\u2019t new, but they\u2019re a longtime haven for trail runners. Trail intersections are well-marked and most sections are rolling and smooth without a ton of elevation gain, making them a good target for newbie trail runners, too. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/trail\/7003357\/dale-ball-central\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dale Ball Central <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a 5.7-mile loop that\u2019s easily accessed off Hyde Park Road. The former trail was eroded and worn down, and the newly improved trail is worth a visit. Cover 7.4 miles via the Bear Mountain State Park Loop, which crosses into neighboring Harriman State Park and offers scenic vistas from the ridgetop. Stay in one of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/visitbearmountain.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bear Mountain Inn<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s rustic stone cottages or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com\/camping\/beaver-pond-state-park\/r\/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NY&amp;parkId=392\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">book a lakeside campsite<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at Harriman State Park.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Issaquah, Washington<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><!-- BEGIN Trail Run Project --><br \/>\n<iframe style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 1200px; height: 410px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/widget?v=3&amp;map=1&amp;type=trail&amp;id=7027304&amp;x=-12597883&amp;y=4465560&amp;z=6\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- END Trail Run Project --><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seattle-area trail runners flock to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/directory\/8010835\/cougar-mountain-regional-wildland-park\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on weekends for the park\u2019s 3,100 acres and more than 35 miles of twisting, varied trail. Located about 20 miles east of Seattle near the town of Issaquah, Cougar Mountain doesn\u2019t have any new trails, but there\u2019s always a different corner of the park to explore. The 5.1-mile <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/trail\/7027304\/cougar-mountain-red-town-loop\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red Town Loop,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> accessed from the Red Town trailhead, traverses through dense, mossy forest and past former mining caves as it gently climbs around 750 feet. It\u2019s easy to get lost here, so bring a map with you. Combine newly-constructed trails like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/trail\/7051229\/lost-creek\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lost Creek<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/trail\/7051227\/quartz-mine?search=1&amp;type=trail&amp;method=dropdown&amp;query=quartz\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quartz Mine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to wrap around the entire park on the 9-mile <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trailrunproject.com\/trail\/7047943\/skyline-circumference-loop\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skyline Circumference Loop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which meanders across high desert plateaus and along knife-edge ridges in the southern White Tank Mountains.
