But we know that\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">for many people and communities, being able to live safely<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and openly<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0with equitable access to opportunities and a sense of belonging in the outdoors\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">still isn\u2019t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0a reality<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We are challenging ourselves and our more than 19 million\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">co-op\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">members<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to do more<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">: L<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">isten, learn, reflect, speak up and act against racial injustice\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in the larger society as well as in the outdoors.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For more than a decade, REI has partnered\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and collaborated\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">with\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a wide range of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">organizations that\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">support<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">BIPOC (Black, Indigenous<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0People of Color) communities<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">strive for a more inclusive outdoors<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, including\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">those listed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">below<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Through our partnerships, we have provided financial and in-kind support<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0co-hosted special events, workshops and trainings<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0amplified the work of the group<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0through films, articles and podcasts<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and collaborated on major programs like\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rei.com\/opt-outside\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">#OptOutside<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Hear Her Out<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">In\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">response to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">current events highlighting hundreds of years of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">systemic\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">racism and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">pervasive<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0violence against the Black community<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, we\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">are\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">also\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">donating<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">to the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nul.org\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">National Urban League<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naacpldf.org\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">NAACP Legal Defense Fund<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2014two<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0historic civil rights organizations that work to fight injustice and inequality.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">commit<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">continue\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">work<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ing\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">with<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">our partners<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, employees<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0members<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0using<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0our brand platform<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to advocate for\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">greater racial equity and inclusion in the outdoors<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and across American society more broadly<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">also\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">recognize that\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">BIPOC communities\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">often face additional discrimination\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">when\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">they are\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">also\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">part of other marginalized groups.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">That\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">one of the reasons<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0we\u2019re committed to advancing equity for women, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities and others that face barriers to belonging<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Together, each of us can help create a more just outdoor community and society<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. A<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">dvocating\u00a0for change<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, listening to others<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">contributing your time, talent or money<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">or finding your community by joining their programs\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">are all great ways to be involved<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Learn more about\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">some of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the organizations that we partner with<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, their programs<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and their mission<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and ways you can support them<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Here are a few examples<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">groups we support.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackgirlsdobike.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Black Girls Do Bike<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>The group grows and supports a community of women of color who share a passion for cycling. Its mission is to encourage and motivate Black women to make fitness and healthy living a priority. <strong>Support the Black Girls RUN! Nearly 100,000 neighborhood walkers are part of the GirlTrek community. The national nonprofit helps people take better care of themselves, their communities and the planet.
