Tell Congress: We need outdoor jobs for the 21st Century.
Nearly a century ago, a program called the Civilian Conservation Corps helped lift the country out of the Great Depression, employing millions of workers in bold stewardship projects that built the national and state park systems we enjoy today. It was a shining example of how Cooperative Action can achieve big things, even in the face of overwhelming challenges.
Today, as we rebuild our economies and communities from the coronavirus pandemic and seek to tackle the climate crisis, we should take our cue from America's past and look to the outdoors to meet these great challenges. Congress must prioritize a modern-day Civilian Conservation Corps, not only for economic recovery, but to invest in the next generation of outdoor stewards and help drive our national climate strategy.
