The McMurdo FastFind MaxG Personal Locator Beacon offers peace of mind that anyone can carry anywhere as a last resort in an emergency.

  • Once activated, the PLB transmits a unique identification signal along with your position to Search and Rescue or other local authorities via the COSPAS-SARSAT system
  • Typical time from activation to Search and Rescue receiving alert is 3 min.
  • Simultaneously transmits a 121.5 MHz homing signal to the immediate area to help rescuers find you once they are near your location
  • 48-hour battery pack lasts twice as long as comparable PLBs and is easily user replaceable; Battery has a storage life of 5 years
  • Simple 3-stage deployment prevents accidental activation
  • Antenna automatically springs into place when deployed; when not in use, antenna remains hidden from view and protected against rough handling
  • Integral 12-channel GPS receiver transmits your coordinates, typically within +/- 62m (203 ft.); visual indicator confirms GPS position acquisition
  • PLB transmits position updates every 20 min.

This Personal Locator Beacon should only be used in situations of grave and imminent danger, and only as a last resort when all means of self-rescue have been exhausted.

COSPAS-SARSAT is an international satellite system that provides distress alert and location data to assist Search and Rescue operations. It detects and locates the signals of beacons operating on 406MHz. The position of the distress and other related information is forwarded to the appropriate Search and Rescue point of contact through the COSPAS-SARSAT mission control center network. The goal of the system is to support all organizations in the world with responsibility for SAR operations, whether at sea, in the air or on land. The COSPAS-SARSAT system provides distress alert and location data to rescue coordination centers for 406MHz beacons activated anywhere in the world.
