On Saturday, October 31, join Mojave National Preserve and the National Parks Conservation
Association in celebrating the 15th anniversary of the California Desert Protection Act. The
event will be held at Kelso Depot Visitor Center, 34 miles south of I-15 at Baker, Calif., on
Kelbaker Road. The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with activities beginning at 10:00
a.m. The event is free, and everyone is invited to attend.

Branded as the toughest course in North America by "The Man" himself, Dave Scott, the Nevada Silverman attracts individuals and relay teams from around the world looking for a superb culmination race to their 2009 triathlon season. Featuring Full and Half Distance courses with over 12,000ft and 6,000ft of elevation gain respectively, the Nevada Silverman is the race that sets triathletes apart from the mainstream. Come to the Henderson Multi-Gen on Sunday to see an incredible display of effort and athleticism by locals and internatinal athletes alike.

12/12/2009 9:00 AM REI Boca Park: Wilderness First Aid with American Red Cross $

This course is intended to serve as an educational resource for those involved in activities that take them beyond the scope of traditional urban emergency medical services. In these cases, emergency care is delayed until help can be notified and rescuers can reach the intended patient or the patient is evacuated to safety. This course helps provide the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with these emergencies until more advanced care can be provided. A minimum age of 15 is recommended due to the serious nature of the content.

This course covers two days beginning at 9am and concluding at 6pm. Class size is limited so register early!
