9/4/2009 10:00 AM Season Passes extended thru November 22nd!!! Free

Starting Friday, September 4th, the Vail Resorts Season Pass Sales team will be selling passes at your local REI. Vail staff members will be in stores during regular operating hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, through November 15. Lines may occur so please be in store an hour before close to ensure service. Passes for sale include the Epic Pass, Colorado Pass, and Summit Pass; giving you access to the best and most easily accessible mountains in Colorado and California: Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly in Lake Tahoe and Arapahoe Basin. Please note that REI staff are not affiliated with pass sales and therefore may not have the information needed to be able to answer your questions. Colorado is ranked #1 in avalanche related deaths. Everyone believes that it cannot happen to them...but it can! Learn what you don't know, what you should know & the basics of what you MUST know (all that we can fit into an hour and a half) to help you decide WILL THIS SLOPE SLIDE? Join the director of The Colorado Avalanche Information Center, Ethan Greene as he brings his avalanche expertise into the class in order to give you the information you need for safe adventures in the backcountry. Join the professionals as they teach you how to recognize and avoid avalanche conditions. This is a must for all backcountry enthusiasts!

This seminar will help you identify groups and agencies that share your passion. It will also provide insight into organizations that rely on volunteers and how to make the most of every volunteer opportunity.

REI Fort Collins has teamed up with Homeless Gear, a Fort Collins based non profit program, to help the homeless of Colorado. Homeless Gear collects unwanted outdoor "gear" (packs, sleeping bags, tents, coats, boots etc.) and distributes these items to the homeless.

Volunteers from Homeless Gear will be in front of the store to accept your gear, give you a tax donation receipt, and answer any questions you might have about the program.

So dig out that old gear, donate it to help the homeless and browse the REI store for great new gear!!!! To learn more about Homeless Gear go to their website at www.HomelessGear.com.

We'll talk about waypoints, routes, tracks and what they mean to you and your GPS. This class is a general overview of GPS units and we'll cover as much as possible in an hour and a half.

Come on in and learn about a great organization that is not only helping people get into shape for triathalons, marathons, etc., but also are doing wonderful things for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!

Information About Team In Training:
Team In Training (TNT) is the largest sports training program in the world and is the main fundraising program of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Participants commit to completing a marathon or half marathon, 100-mile century ride, a triathlon or hike or snowshoe adventure while raising funds to fight leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers through research, patient aid and patient education. No matter what your sport, TNT offers great coaching, great people, fundraising support and a lifesaving cause.
