On-Going PEAK--Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids Free

Looking for a fun, educational and interesting event for your scout troop, youth program or class? Look no further than your local REI and our exciting PEAK program! Through hands-on interactive activities our PEAK program teaches children to have fun outside while learning the Leave No Trace principles and minimum impact techniques for enjoying the outdoors.

PEAK programs can be modified for most age levels.

2009 REI Gives: 2009 REI Atlanta Area Grant Recipients Free

Atlanta is home to incredibly dedicated and avid outdoor stewards and recreational organizations. REI is excited to help support some amazing efforts through our grants program. In 2009, the REI Atlanta area teams are thrilled to support grants to Georgia Appalachian Trail Club, National Wildlife Federation, Piedmont Park Conservancy, West Atlanta Watershed Alliance, Conasauga District Trail Volunteers, Chattahoochee Nature Center, and Georgia River Network toward their impactful projects in and around Atlanta.

November 13-14, 2009 VOLUNTEER TRAIL MAINTENANCE EVENT COHUTTA WILDERNESS Free

WHERE: Tearbritches Trail & Chestnut Lead Trail

WHAT: Forest Service staff and other trail volunteers for one day or the whole weekend as we tackle much needed maintenance on two popular hiking trails in the Cohutta Wilderness. No experience needed.

MEET: Meet at 9:00 AM at the Group Camping Area on F.S. Road 68 (across from the Tearbritches Trailhead)

BRING: Work gloves, sturdy footwear, lunch/snacks, plenty of water and a daypack to carry it all in as we will have lunch on the trail.
