Washington's Weather Extremes: Snow & Floods
2/4/2010 7:00 PM
Presented by the Washington Ski Touring Club
Larry Schick is a hydrometerologist for the water management section of the US Army Corps of Engineers in Seattle. Larry also issues his free powder alert email forcasts at www.skiwashington.com. Larry will talk about the four historic floods in Western Washington that occured in the last six years.
What makes these extremes? The presentation will explain why our normally timid weather occasionally goes wild and there will be website links that reveal the secrets of "atmospheric rivers." Finally, Larry will explore who gets the most snow, who has the best early season skiing, and why the short-range forecast is the key to "getting the goods in the mountains."
