Do you work with youth? Are you looking for ways to help kids learn to enjoy and care for the outdoors? REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) has partnered with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics to offer a free outreach program called PEAK (Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids).
The goal of the PEAK program is to educate children about enjoying and caring for the outdoors. Through hands-on, interactive and fun activities children are taught to have fun outside while practicing responsible outdoor recreation.
During a PEAK presentation, REI employees teach children about the environment, outdoor recreation and Leave No Trace's seven principles that help minimize human impacts while enjoying the outdoors. REI folks make learning fun using the PEAK Pack, a backpack filled with the essential gear for outdoor adventure, games and activities that will spark discussion and imagination.
The PEAK program has three primary goals:
-Increase awareness of Leave No Trace principles
-Promote the stewardship of public lands
-Meet the demands of diverse youth populations
