REI Nonprofit Partner: LITE: Living in Touch with The Earth

A sustainable practices group incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2002, LITE works to motivate individuals, groups, businesses, and entire communities to live in a more sustainable way, i.e. lightly and more efficiently.

Its programs, designed to improve quality of life, promote driving less (Car-Lite); access to bikes and do-it-yourself bike repair services (Community Bikes); and event greening, including waste reduction and recycling (The Green Mentor).

Thanks to its Community Bikes program, participants of all ages learn how to clean, maintain, and refurbish rescued bikes, so they can be put back in circulation.
