Ongoing P.E.A.K. (Promoting Evironmental Awareness in Kids) Free

Welcome to the REI/ Leave No Trace PEAK (Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids) Program. The goal of this program is to educate children about Leave No Trace ethics and techniques that will help them minimize their impacts while enjoying our great outdoors. This program is ideal for elementary school and youth group presentations in or out of the store.

Looking for fun family activities? Come in to the store and pick up and Adventure Journal, then log on to www.rei.com/passport and download a list of kid friendly hikes and bike rides in the Reno area. Then get outside. When the kids complete one activity send in the card attached to the journal for a pair of kid's binoculars.

Develop your mountain sense. During this outing wilderness survival, navigation, first aid, and backcountry skills all will be taught together. We will be hiking around on and off trail, navigating by compass and GPS, discussing appropriate backcountry gear and know-how, and even practice some what-if scenarios.
