REI Gift Registry

REI's gift registry is blissfully fast and hassle-free for recipients and gift givers alike. Below, find step-by-step instructions on how to take advantage of this free service. If you'd like to get started even faster, visit our Gift Registry homepage. Once there, just choose an option to begin your gift registry adventure.

Buying Gift Registry Items

  • First you'll need to locate your friend or family member's gift registry with our handy search feature.
  • Enter as much information as you know and hit "Find a Registry."
  • The search feature will return a list of registries. Click on the name of the registry that you're looking for and you'll be taken to a detailed registry list.
  • Enter a quantity next to the item(s) you'd like to give and then click the orange "Add to Cart" button in the far right column.
  • When you've finished shopping, click the "Proceed to Checkout" button located on the Shopping Cart page.

Creating a Gift Registry

Creating a Gift Registry Online:

  • Go to the Create a New Registry page.
  • Enter your info in a few easy steps and then you'll be ready to go shopping!
  • Browse the site, and when you see a product you love add it to your registry using the orange "Add to Registry" button located on every product page.
  • We'll save your list automatically as you build it.

Creating a Gift Registry in Stores:

Just visit the customer service desk and we'll get you started. You can also create a registry over the phone (1-800-426-4840).

Creating a Gift Registry by Fax or Mail:

If you don't want to open your gift registry online or over the phone, you can fill out a PDF application form and send it to us via fax or U.S. mail. To do so, follow these instructions:

  1. Download the application form. Below, we've provided a PDF version of the application form. Click on the link to download the PDF. You'll need PDF reader software in order to view and print the form. If you don't have a PDF reader, you can download the software here. Download gift registry application form (PDF)
  2. Print and fill out the application form. Please include all required information. Important: You'll need an e-mail account in order to open a gift registry.

When we receive your form, we'll set up your gift registry and send you an e-mail containing the information you'll need to log in. We'll contact you if we have questions or require additional information.

Adding Products to Your Gift Registry List

  • Do you have a gift registry yet? You'll need to create one first.
  • If you already have a gift registry, just log in to make updates to your list.
  • After you log in, you can view and manage your list, and go shopping for new gifts.
  • To add items, just go to any product page, select the correct size and/or color, and then hit the orange "Add to Registry" button. (We'll automatically save any changes you make to your registry.)

Editing Your Gift Registry

  • Log in and you can choose from a wide range of registry-management options.
  • Note: You can also access and edit your gift registry over the phone (1-800-426-4840) or at any REI retail store.

Gift Registry FAQs

Why is my search for a gift registry returning no results?

You may have misspelled the recipient's name. Try entering only the first few letters of the person's first and last names. If searching for a wedding registry, make sure to try the names of both the bride and groom.

Is gift boxing available for Gift Registry items?

Yes. Just indicate that you are sending items as gifts at step #5 of checkout. You'll then be able to choose among several gift-delivery options, including gift boxing.

What should I do if I forget my gift registry password?

No worries—we can send you a reminder.

If I already have an REI.com Account, do I need to create another password for REI Gift Registry?

No, you can log in with the email address/user name and password you already selected to access Your Account.

What does it mean when a product is available "in-store only"?

This means that the item is not available for purchase online but may be available at an REI store. To check on an item's availability, please give us a ring at 1-800-426-4840.

How can I get assistance with my gift registry?

Can I create a gift registry over the phone or in the store?

Yes. Just call 1-800-426-4840 or visit the customer service desk at any REI retail store nationwide and we'll help you create a registry you'll love.

How can my guests find an REI store near them?

They can use the REI Store Locator online, or call 1-800-426-4840.

How do I announce my REI Gift Registry via e-mail?

Log in to your registry and choose the "Send E-mail Announcements" option.

If I create a gift registry, will you be sending me a lot of e-mail?

We'll send you a single confirmation e-mail when you create a registry. You can also choose to receive additional e-mail notifications about your registry. If you choose to receive these updates, we'll send you a reminder 30 days before your event and 14 days after your event.

What if I don't want my gift registry available over the internet?

On the Guest Access and Notification page, choose the "No-Internet" option. Your gift registry list will then only be available to guests at REI stores.

Will my personal information be available for others to see?

We display your name, city and state so that guests can locate your registry list through our search feature. We'll never show private information such as your mailing address or phone numbers. Read the full details of REI's privacy policy.

Can I open more than one gift registry?

Open as many gift registries as you like. You can use the same email address and password for multiple accounts.

Can I open a gift registry for someone else?

Of course! Feel free to create a registry for a son, daughter, spouse-or anyone you know who has a special event on the horizon such as a birthday or anniversary.

How quickly is my gift registry updated?

When a family member or friend buys something from your registry online, the update will appear within minutes of the transaction. Updates take approximately one hour for store purchases.

How long will my gift registry be available to me and my guests?

Your gift registry will be available for one full year from the event date.

Should I avoid choosing seasonal or clearance items for my registry?

If your event is months away, we suggest you avoid choosing seasonal or clearance items that may not be in stock in the future.

Should I check in on my registry from time to time?

It's a good idea to check in on your registry. You'll be able to see which items have been purchased and add more items if you'd like.

Why can't I find the orange "Add to Registry" button on product pages?

If you're creating a registry list, you'll need to log in to your registry before these buttons will appear. If you're buying a gift for someone else, you'll need to locate their registry list first.

What is WeddingChannel.com?

WeddingChannel.com is an independent online gift registry service that maintains a partnership with REI. As an extra shopping convenience for your guests, you can opt to make your REI Gift Registry available on WeddingChannel.com

Can Guests Access My Registry through WeddingChannel.com?

Yes. If you have selected WeddingChannel.com access for your registry, it will be accessible to guests at REI.com, WeddingChannel.com, REI stores and by calling REI customer service.

How Quickly Will My REI Gift Registry Appear on WeddingChannel.com?

If you have selected WeddingChannel.com Access for your registry, your registry will appear on WeddingChannel.com within 24 hours.
