The check-ins have been tallied. REI’s participation in Facebook Places check-in deals late last year resulted in the donation of $100,000 to local nonprofits working to restore or enhance the outdoor places where we love to recreate. Between November 5 and December 19, the donation amount from REI varied from $1 to $10 to ultimately a whopping $50 per check-in through Facebook Places. REI just made it easier to give back this holiday season. You may recall that last month REI announced our participation in the launch of Facebook Deals, providing customers special promotions when using Facebook Places to check in to participating businesses.
