Comments about Rossignol BC X6 Cross-Country Ski Boots - Men's:

Great concept, but there is nothing for the inner boot to retain the heel. This wouldn't be hard for Rossi to solve, or for REI to be aware of. My wife's BCX 7's inner boot laces up all the way and she has no problems.

Comments about Rossignol BC X6 Cross-Country Ski Boots - Men's:

I'm a woman new to XC skiing and wanted metal-edged skis for greater control. I found a pair of skis unexpectedly, and went to REI to get the right boots. Perhaps since it was a bit late in the season, REI only had 2 different boots with the NNN system. They did not have the women's version of this boot in my size (I wear a 10 women's), so I tried the men's version in a corresponding size and it fits well for the most part. The only thing that I wish were different is the size of the opening at the top of the boot. I have calves that are on the wider side, and the way the boots are made, the opening at the top of the boot is not wide enough for me to zip the boot up all the way. Having the velcro straps at the top of the boot helps keep them on despite this, but the zipper still slides down as I'm skiing. This is relatively minor in the scheme of things, but is worth pointing out.

Comments about Rossignol BC X6 Cross-Country Ski Boots - Men's:

This is the 5th or 6th Rossi XC ski boot I have owned, so I know the product fairly well and I have liked them. First off, I have noticed a bit of heel slip and wish it had the velcro cinch that previous Rossi boots have had. Another issue is with the plastic lock that is supposed to hold the laces taut after you get them where you like them. Unfortunately they both slip, and I find I have to tighten up the boot lacing whenever it gets too annoyingly loose (about every hour or so), or at the beginning of a downhill stretch. Very annoying, but very fixable by Rossi with a different plastic lock. My main concern is durability. After about 6-8 skis (only one was more than an hour or two), I have noticed that where the boot flexes and creases as you ski (or walk), I have noticed that the thread that binds the boot rand to the upper has ripped, and the rand is beginning to split. I am hoping this is just cosmetic, but time will tell if it is a fatal flaw. Lastly, one of the tabs on the top of laces ripped out in my hand.

The boot is very warm, looks good, and fits the bill for a stouter BC boot for thrashing through deep or unforgiving snow conditions. After all the issues, I will either keep the boots or ask for an exchange if the rand issue deteriorates more. Yes I would recommend them, but with reservations. Need another radio button for the Bottom Line.
