Comments about Ahnu Montara Boot Hiking Boots - Women's:
These boots seemed about a half-size smaller than my usual brands (Merrell & Vasque), so I needed sized up to prevent my toes from hitting on the downhills. One very moderate hike in these, and I know I'll have to return them, because my feet were sliding around laterally in them, even though I had tightened the laces fully. Just too wide for my feet, I guess. The other thing I noticed was that I could feel every rock in the trail through the thin soles -- not good if you've got weight on your back, or if you tend to do hikes longer than 5 miles, or if you do much off-trail travel. Zero arch support, which was also disappointing, if you're intending to do a lot of difficult hiking. Really pretty styling, thin, soft glove-leather, but just not for the avid adventurer type!
Comments about Ahnu Montara Boot Hiking Boots - Women's:
These boots were certainly put to the test right away. I wore them out of the box to a camping trip where it was pouring rain the whole time. Also did a hike with a 4,000 ft. elevation gain on the first day. They were very comfortable and certainly waterproof! (I did switch the insoles for the Montrail heat moldable ones the night before I left).
The grip seems just okay. I have a pair of Merrill hiking boots that also have Vibram soles, like this boot, but I really think the Merrills are way gripier on wet rocks, etc. However, it's hard to compare because I haven't worn my old boots in wet conditions in awhile (but I was convinced enough from the last time that I swore I'd never buy a pair of hiking boots without Vibram soles).
So far I'm happy with the boots and would recommend them to others!

Comments about Ahnu Montara Boot Hiking Boots - Women's:
I haven't worn over the ankle hiking boots in 30 years (think Redwing super stiff leather) and haven't really had a need as most of my walking is on developed/asphalt type paths and city streets. Further, I have very blister-prone feet, it seems like no matter how comfortable a shoe feels I get blisters after a few miles so I have avoided boots thinking they would be even worse. Boy was I wrong, at least where this boot is concerned! They are ridiculously comfortable, and even after hours and miles of wear I have not developed a single blister! I bought these for an upcoming multi-day walking/hiking vacation and have been doing some foothill hiking to try them out - my feet & ankles feel very stable and protected. Even walked around in the creek a couple times, they are completely waterproof. I normally wear a 7 to 7.5 shoe, the smallest in stock was an 8 and I bought it with some trepidation about the large size but turns out it's perfect with the right socks. My favorite combo so far is the Wright Sox Coolmesh ankle sock underneath the SmartWool women's hiker. I also replaced the insoles with my favorite pink Superfeet ones.
Now that I have these awesome boots I really feel inspired to continue to try more challenging trails! Highly recommend! PS One of the reasons I bought these, aside from the high ratings, was the great price during the recent Memorial day sale, however if I have to replace them someday I would have no qualms paying the full price, they're totally worth it.

Like any serious boot, these Ahnus need a little breaking in, so I wore them around the house for a few days before going out. The first foray was a moderate climb up a local trail - dirt, not always level, with muddy and gravelly areas. I felt completely stable and in control at all times - and keep in mind I am almost 60.
We walked through soaking wet grass, and my feet stayed dry. And my Ahnus are a terrific shade of dark lavender. Hence the "zazzy."
I LOVE these boots.

Comments about Ahnu Montara Boot Hiking Boots - Women's:
I bought these for my girlfriend after she tried them on in the store and fell in love with them. She actually liked them better than the Asolo Concordia. These are really nice boots, very comfortable, supportive and stylish. The collar is really soft pig skin and she loves the Tawny Port (purple) color. We haven't tested them to the extreme yet but they definitely seem like they will hold their own. The only problem is that run a little small, my girlfriend takes a size 6 and we had to return these to get a 6 1/2. The cool part is that we live close to a store and returned them there instead of shipping them, saved us time and money. Recommend a half size bigger.
Service and delivery comments:
Shipping was normal but a little slow in my opinion. Too bad the stores don't carry everything we need, huh?

I use the boots when I go out bird watching. I'm usually on dirt paths with some rocks here and there, or on paved pathways. From the second I put these boots on, I knew they were for me. They are far and away the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. Plus they are very lightweight. They give my feet and ankles good support. I have only good things to say about these boots!

Comments about Ahnu Montara Boot Hiking Boots - Women's:
I wore these boots on a 7 mile hike with 2,000 feet of elevation change almost straight out of the box without a problem (OK....I wore them around the house the day before.) They are incredibly comfortable and light, by far more than any boot I have ever owned. I did go up a size to give myself more room in the toe for long downhill stretches, and adusted the resultant heel lift with a Superfeet Insole (I routinely size up my athletic footwear). I currently use them for dayhikes, and intend to put them on when I carry a light backpack. They are proven waterproof, and clean up easily after muddy conditions, so I think they are good for most of the year.

Comments about Ahnu Montara Boot Hiking Boots - Women's:
I had been looking for a light weight hiker for some time and I'm glad I waited it out until I found these. I am not familiar with Anhu and usually wear Keens. These were a partial gift from my boyfriend and mom, and I chipped in too. I hike mixed terrain, hilly areas quite often. I took these boots for a spin yesterday for the first time, fresh out of the box. They required no breaking in at all. They are very light weight and breathable. It got a little warm yesterday and my feet were not sweaty at all. I took them through some mud and they stayed dry. The traction was great. Where my boyfriend was slipping in the mud, I was standing firm. I was specifically looking for a high top hiker for the ankle support which I'm becoming fond of as I get older. These boots were snug all around, not tight and I have wide feet, and I felt very supported in the ankle. I'm very very happy with my purchase and I'll definitely try more Anhu footwear.

Comments about Ahnu Montara Boot Hiking Boots - Women's:
Super comfy and lightweight. Most hiking boots give me blisters and I have to preemptively tape the backs of my heels off. Not with these ones because the sole is pretty bendable and the top of them fits like a soft collar around the ankle, so it's not the friction with the heel that lifts the back of the boot.
These are lightweight, soft, comfy shoes, not heavy duty hiking boots, but I never really understood the point of the heavy thick ones. I've hiked in them over a variety of terrain and with a backpack (I didn't just wear them around the city) and they felt very adequate.
I also liked the pretty color when I got them, but that was gone after the first hike - there is a very good reason why all hiking boots are the same color. These turned that standard color anyways.
