by alohafromWhat you need at a reasonable priceThere are so many jackets to chose from today from cheap to supper expensive all of them claiming waterproof and breathable.
What if you need a jacket for your daughter that you know is still growing and we'll need a new one in a few years (you will have to pay for that to), that is too big to fit in youth cloths (jackets now get expensive), that prefers certain colors (not pink, move, red, black or white), that wants a well fitting jacket (not baggy or men's/unisex), that should perform well (a reputable brand helps), that is a shell for layering (price goes up again), that is suitable for skiing (selection goes down even more)?
I found this jacket as a perfect fit.
You get all you need less the latest stuff (e.g. no waterproof zippers just flaps covering them, no GoreTex just TNF brand). But you do not have to spend a lot and you get lots of functionality that will have pushed you into $400 price territory otherwise. You also do not pay for stuff you do not need like when you go with 3-in-1 type of jacket or the insulated kind.
If you are curious ... yes, daughter loves it :)

by Grandma SamfromExcellent Jacket - I love it!I always ski with a shell jacket and adjust the under layers for warmth. I've skied in temps from -1F to 44F in this jacket this year in comfort. Wind and wet snow are not a problem. The pit-zips are great for ventilation when it gets warm.
I'm not a hood-wearer so the best part about this feature is it comes completely off. It is large enough to fit over a helmet and also has a drawstring on the back to take up the excess if the wearer isn't using a helmet. Nice touch.
Two large lower front pockets have lots of space. There's one breast pocket and one pocket on the left sleeve. Inside is a small-ish zipped security pocket on the left side and an enormous webbed pouch on the right side (stash your gloves there maybe?) The sleeves have generous Velcro tabs so your gloves can fit inside or outside the jacket sleeve.
My only gripe is there is nowhere to attach your gloves when you take them off and don't want to set them down. I may just add my own ring at the hem to address this one inconvenience.
I'm very happy with this jacket and expect to wear it for a long time.
