Comments about Surftech Flowmaster Stand Up Paddleboard - 12' 6":
The finish is not a durable gloss like my surfboard or windsurfer, but rather a dull flat finish. Anything that touches it leaves a mark or scratch. It scratches far easier than my other boards or fiberglass kayak. Not looking forward to result of other people using it and hitting the rail with the paddle. It fell over while on its side and landed on the handle of a screwdriver, which cracked the finish, on carpet. I emailed Surftech over 3 weeks ago about care and maintenance of the hull; still no response. I chose Flowmaster based on Surftech's website which stated a width of 30.25". They should know their own product better than REI, right? Wrong, REI"s figures are correct. The 32" beam makes it very stable but slow for a 12'6" displacement hull. I wanted high volume to carry my daughter and/or dog with me, but I would choose the Bic if I could do it all over. Deep in the fin box is a made in Thailand sticker; I wonder if there are some quality control issues and if this is a blem. I'll send an email to Surftech about that, but I don't expect a response.
