Rated5out of5byTwin Scout DadfromLightweight and warmPurchased 2 of these sleeping bags for my sons for Scouts and they have been excellent. Very lightweight for packing/carrying, as well as durable. Have experienced some rather cold nights and these bags hold in the heat extremely well.

Rated5out of5byjimbobfromGreat bagI do a lot of backpacking in the spring, summer, fall, and even winter in the Pacific NW. I needed a replacement for my previous down bag that had served me well for 6 or 7 years. I was intrigued by the Dri Down technology because it would provide more loft for a longer period of time then non-treated down. I particularly wanted a bag that was true to its temperature rating, particularly since I'm a cold sleeper.
I have not been disappointed with this bag. Last night the temperatures dropped down to 23 degrees, and I was comfortably warm in my bag. This bag is a winner in my book.

Rated5out of5byJob314fromWarm bag that stuffs down smallMy first down bag and I am very impressed with this one. I opted for the 18 since I backpack in conditions where it gets into the 20s and over a recent trip on Big Bend's outer mountain loop, the bag kept me plenty warm. Keep in mind that a sleeping pad is a must since the down offers little to no insulation under your body, but with a thermarest under me, this bag was perfect. I stayed warm all night and even though the tent walls had a bit of condensation on them by morning, with the dri-down, I didn't lose any loft or warmth.
It is a mummy bag, but I found I could switch to side sleeping without feeling trapped because there was a bit of play in the shoulder area. The only thing that could be improved is the zipper, especially near the top it is a tad difficult to zip up all the way. That won't stop me from recommending it though.

Rated5out of5byCodeInvictusfromGREAT sleeping bagI used this sleeping bag during the cold weather months of my Appalachian Trail thru hike. It was such a solid sleeping bag that I was sad when I switched to my warm weather bag (though I enjoyed the lighter weight of my second bag!). This bag kept me VERY warm and dry. The few times it got wet (usually just the feet part because I'm tall and the end would touch the walls of the tent), it still retained some insulating powers and kept me warm. It dried easily and quickly. Never had any issues with the zippers, though it did shed down feathers regularly (which is the norm for sleeping bags, so it wasn't unexpected). I feel it was accurately rated for the temperature, as I never got cold. I highly recommend this product and will continue to enjoy mine in the coming cold months.

Rated5out of5byoutdoordreamsfromSierra Designs Zissou 12 is AWESOMEBought the Sierra Designs Zissou 12 to replace an old sleeping bag, and I couldn't be happier! I've used this bag on several camping trips, most notably a 50 mile, six-night backpacking trip through Yosemite in July. Although the bag was a bit too warm for the nights (which only got down to 60 degrees), I tend to get cold at night so that was just fine. The Zissou 12 will be a perfect three season bag for me - in the Southwest, that means Fall, Winter, and Spring (Summer you just sleep on top of the bag).
This bag is VERY well made - I've examined all the stitching carefully and it is perfect. It is light, extremely compressible, super comfortable, and absolutely wonderful. It comes with a 13 liter stuff sack, but I made a 10-liter stuff sack out of flannel to use as a pillow (stuff with jacket and sweater) and it fits perfectly in the 10-liter sack.
I would DEFINITELY recommend this bag. Two of my buddies bought the same bag for the backpacking trip, and they also love theirs. Note: Sierra Designs lists the bag at 2 lbs 7 oz, but mine weights 2 lb 5.5 oz (if you are an ounce-counter).

Rated4out of5byerewnohfromGood bagI bought this at the same time as my hennessy hammock and it worked out perfectly on some cold nights. The bag is very warm, warmer yet with a silk liner. I'm 5'10" and it was great, if I needed to I could disappear all the way into the thing.
The downside is that the stuffsack it comes with is massive for the bag and takes way too much room up in the pack. I ended up buying a 6L compression sack and it fits perfectly into it, nice and tight.
For the warmth, comfort (the material just feels nice), and weight I'd definitely recommend this bag to a friend.

Rated5out of5byangryhikerfromAs good as everyone says it isI don't have much to add to the other reviews except to say this bag is better than I expected. I'm not sure I will go back to synthetic! I used this in the Wind Rivers and in southern Utah this summer - fantastic in both situations. I ended up sleeping on my Exped UL7 mat with this sleeping bag unzipped on top of me and it was plenty warm like that - even on a couple of chilly nights (not really cold) in Wyoming. I can't wait to use it on a freezing night! One of my favorite purchases in the last 3 years.
