Comments about REI Ashbury Daypack - Women's:

I've been using the Nikole bag since it first came out; that bag has been around the world with me! The zipper finally gave up the ghost and was unrepairable, so I got this bag. I love that it is slightly bigger than the Nikole and fits my macbook air better for my daily bike commute (although not in the padded pocket), and the airflow straps and back pad are critical for biking to work in the summertime! Thank goodness they kept the external water bottle pockets big enough to hold a 750ml Camelbak bottle.

I miss the nice embroidery of the Nikole, though -- it added just enough flair for it to be a semi-stylish everyday "purse" (since I'm often running from work to kid stuff to social events and just want to use one bag for all of that plus travel). The biggest drawback of this bag is the HIDEOUS neon pink accent color: zipper pulls and inside lining. I appreciate a light-colored bag interior (easier to find stuff), but this pink color is so ugly I almost didn't buy the bag. Please make another colorway, REI!

I use this pack every day. I searched for years to find a small day pack to replace and old REI zip off day pack. At 5'3" tall, it is hard to find a good fit for my size. This one fits perfectly! Ideal for traveling as well. Handy outside pockets for water bottles and good organization compartments inside. I also like that it is not sporty looking and I can take it more place. I don't use a purse, so this does it all.

Until now, I have been looking for a comfortable, lightweight, secure, compact, everyday/travel mom backpack. This bag fits the bill. I can pack a set of clothes, snacks, sippy cup, wipes, little toys, two e-readers, and even have room for my things! And with all of that, I don't feel like I am lugging around a huge pack, its very compact, balanced, and lightweight. The selling point for me was the zipper pouch in the back. For traveling, its great to stash things you don't want to lose to pick-pockets. Hope this works for you, too.
