    The REI Lightweight Polartec® Power Dry® Half-Zip top for men can be worn as the first of several layers in colder temperatures or alone when you need less insulation.

    • Polartec Power Dry uses 2 different yarns on either side of the fabric to enhance comfort: interior yarn wicks moisture, and exterior yarn dries quickly
    • The combination of the 2 yarns helps keep you dry during highly aerobic activities because it moves moisture away from skin faster than single-component fabrics such as cotton
    • Fabric protects skin against harmful ultraviolet light with a UPF rating of 20 and is very soft to the touch
    • Deep center front zipper allows ventilation control; features an inner draft flap and locking zipper head
    • Flatseam construction is soft and non-chafing next to skin; raglan sleeves with off-the-shoulder seams minimize irritation when wearing a pack
    • Underarm and side gussets promote freedom of motion

        I wear it when I am hiking or cycling when it is any colder than t-shirt weather. It fits very nice under my coat. It also folds up really nice to shove in my pack if I decide to shed.

          In the fitting room, I liked the feel of the material better than the other brands at the store. This first layer thermal shirt worked well for me. I wore a wool shirt over it and my ski jacket. Went on a week trip nowboarding at Steamboat where the day temps ranged from 9 to 24 degrees. Except for one day I was kept pretty comfortable. I like the half zipper for when I was in the warm lodge for lunch also is convienient when taking it off.

          Since I bought it I've used it for every outdoor activity from winter camping to snowshoeing/boarding, and mountain biking. I run hot and use a three layer moisture wicking system that I have now come too love. It wicks moisture as well as any other higher priced thermal underwear. I have the equivalent in other name brands and these work just as well for the money. They are plenty warm too. My only complaint, but not a deal breaker in anyway is it hold smells. A few days in these and nobody will want too be near you. Performance wise they are excellent!

            I usually hike a lot hotter than other people but this was a perfect layer over a short sleeve silkweight wicking shirt during a backpacking trip in the backcountry in winter conditions (10-16 inches of snow & temps around 15 degrees F). The zipper comes down far enough to vent well and overall has a great fit. I'm 5'5"/135lbs & the medium works for me.
