Comments about The North Face Pinehurst Bike Jacket - Women's - 2012 Closeout:
This jacket is perfect for cycling--the pit zips keep you from overheating and the slightly elongated sleeves keep your arms covered, even if you're stretched out on your bike. I've been consistently impressed with the coat's performance--waterproof yet breathable!
The hood is large enough to fit over my helmet, though this blocks my over-the-shoulder view so I prefer to tuck the hood into the back of the coat. The ample hood keeps me dry and cozy enough for rainy walks sans umbrella, and though I try to avoid running I'm sure it'd be a great coat for that as well.
I have the black version and while it's not the most visible jacket, thoughtful reflective touches on each elbow, the small of the back, and the back of the head help a lot. (The website shows the white version from behind, and the black bits on the white jacket are the reflective parts I'm talking about) The zippers are water-proof as well; another great detail!
There are only two things keeping this jacket from being absolutely perfect: it could more packable (it packs small, and I often put the whole jacket inside the back storage pocket. It's not designed for this, though, and it would be ideal if the zipper to the back pocket had a pull tab on the inside in addition to the outside one...this would make the way I pack it a little easier!) a hood storing area (when I don't want to use the hood, a zip-away pocket would be nicer than just stuffing it down the coat, as I do now).
These are such minor quibbles for such an excellent waterproof coat! It's functional and also stylish; cycling gear that looks great on or off the bike. The best of both worlds!
