The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Tech-Compatible Switchback Gloves:
I use the "Switchback" for flying my paraglider. Normally its cool at launch altitude. After take off, if I pick the right cycle I can sometimes climb thousands of feet in a thermal. The thermal's rising air is warmer but when I leave it 9,000 feet or more above launch altitude because of airspace requirements or lack of oxygen, Its very cold. I can then easily slip on the the outer glove and look for the next thermal comfortably.
The problem comes when I try to send a text or call between thermals. I use the medial side of my thumb to select the features and press send. The tread that conducts my skin's sensing is stitched on the lateral side of the thumb only. This makes it almost useless if I want to hold the phone while I select items on the face of the smartphone.
Really good glove but not for tech.

Backpacked with these gloves and they performed admirably. Really loved the inserts, warm enough if you needed top lose the outer layer. Love the fact that the inserts can be used with touch screen phones or Ipod touch...bonus!

Comments about REI Tech-Compatible Switchback Gloves:
Bought these to replace some gloves that had worn out and were getting wet all the time. These were an awesome replacement for the price, and the liners have tips that let you use a touch screen with them on, which works pretty well.

Comments about REI Tech-Compatible Switchback Gloves:
I bought a pair of heated inserts to compliment the shells. The shed the cold air well and contain the heat from the inserts well. I have NOT had the ability to use these in extended periods of time in cold weather riding at moderate speeds. I like the ability to use the drawstrings to tighten the glove shells to your hands and forearms to prevent loose material from slapping your arms and flapping about.

Comments about REI Tech-Compatible Switchback Gloves:
The only reason this didn't get 5 stars was that the lanyard on one glove came undone, and "unthreaded" itself from the cuff, making it close to impossible to "rethread" and tighten the cuff again. We snowboard in AK, and having the gauntlet cuff snug is paramount to keeping hands warm and dry.

Great gauntlet style glove, extremely easy to put on and take off. The inner gloves are super nice for checking your phone on the lift, or queuing up a different playlist in the cold.

Great for skiing. I've only used them for two weeks, but I'm pretty confident these are going to last for years. Very comfortable, very warm. I would recommend these to any recreational skier.

Been on the mountain for 14 years. Best pair of gloves I've owned. I love that you can wear the lining gloves and have mobility for tasks that take more dexterity. They were plenty warm, comfortable, and kept me dry. Great pair of gloves.

Comments about REI Tech-Compatible Switchback Gloves:
I have had these gloves for a few years now, and bought them for price, and I lost my old ones. REI makes good products and these are no exception. Wear them snowboarding, and well anytime I'm out in the snow, and ice. For extreme cold these are not the gloves too use, but anything above zero they will do the trick. I loved them with fingerless wool gloves, and always carried the original linners as backup.
Now I'm not so sure they are 100% waterproof. It could have been user error, and I'm very careful about sweet and regulating my temp, but it seems that extended periods in the snow the insides would get wet. Luckly they stay warm, and with the linners as backups my fingers never got cold.
All in all great gloves, and if I hadn't burned a hole in them trying too dry them out over a fire, I would still be using them.

Comments about REI Tech-Compatible Switchback Gloves:
Bought these for my boyfriend. They seem to be warm and well made. The liners add extra warmth and versatility. He's used them on winter walks/hikes and xc skiing. Had them about a month, great so far.
