Comments about Sierra Designs DriDown Tov Jacket - Men's:
Bought this as I was preparing for my 1st Winter overnight hike up to Greenleaf Hut (Mt. Lafayette, NH) to camp out overnight. As I am 6'3, 245 I bought a XXL so I can layer under this jacket. I planned to use it up top and for when we took breaks on the trail. Our hike started out around 25 degrees in the parking lot and it was in the single digits 4300 feet up. Jacket packs down into a very small sack that came with it so it is easily stored. Worked completely as advertised as it kept me nice and toasty when we broke camp and in the morning for breakfast. It is not advertised as waterproof at all - and it did get damp from perspiring while putting up the tent (base layers were already pretty soaked with sweat and it was snowing as well) The down did not retain the moisture as advertised. I stuffed the jacket in my sleeping bag overnight and it was completely dry in the AM. This is now my full time winter jacket and I have had many compliments from the look - including my 25 yr old assistant (I am an old guy at 44 you see...). Great to wear around town in any weather - super warm but lightweight and easily able to layer under as needed. Only con is that this is down and feathers do "leak" which is a bummer but I guess happens.

Comments about Sierra Designs DriDown Tov Jacket - Men's:
I would love to be able to recommend this jacket, but I can't. I absolutely loved this jacket in the store - it fit me perfectly, it looked great, it was warm and comfortable. It also had thumbholes in the sleeves which I love for outdoor sports, and was compressible enough to fit in a small pouch. Basically I loved everything about it until I started using it. This jacket sheds feathers like no other jacket I've ever seen (and yes I've had other down jackets). As much as I wanted to keep it, I can't imagine it would have kept its loft for more than one season at the rate the feathers were coming out. I had to return it. Just one flaw - but major enough that I couldn't keep it.

Good light weight Jacket, warm and good to wear out in public( I have the red and black one.) The down does come out and its my first down jacket and not sure if its just that way? But a great buy.

Comments about Sierra Designs DriDown Tov Jacket - Men's:
I check rei.com almost everyday waiting for a review to pop up about this jacket. up to this point i've always been a big fan of the softshell jackets and could never be willing to take the plunge on a down jacket. when the 20% off coupon popped up i decided to take the chance on the jacket.
first impressions out of the box is that it is extremely well made. i've always been impressed with what sierra designs throws out and this is no exception. it doesn't look very thick but after putting it on after about 2 minutes i was already starting to heat up. there doesn't seem to be too many feathers wanting to shoot out of the jacket like some of my friends jackets which is nice.
overall its a solid fit. i'm 6'1" and about 210. i got the large and it fits great. little at the bottom of the jacket which holds in it place, but loosier around the gut so i can still have full mobility. the only beef with the jacket is that the hood is big enough to fit a helmet in there. it does have drawstrings on it, but i was kinda hoping for more of a snug fit. all in all i'm pleased
Comments about Sierra Designs DriDown Tov Jacket - Men's:
I picked this jacket up before heading to school in Laramie, WY. I was looking for something that would be well suited for climbing, hiking, and backpacking as well as for walking across campus in frigid temperatures.
This jacket is super compressible and lightweight. It definitely satisfied my first requirement. As far as the other, it is warm! I can wear only a base layer and still be comfortable in this jacket when it's below freezing.
I haven't gotten to test the DriDown yet, but I will say it gives me peace of mind that I can be out without a shell and not have a disaster if I'm caught in a storm by surprise.
