Comments about DC Ceptor Snowboard Boots - 2012/2013:
These boots are great, comfy, warm and waterproof (as any boots should be). There's a few things to note however:
1. These boots are very stiff and meant for advanced riders. If you are a beginner, steer clear! With stiffness comes the compromise of comfort. These will not be as comfortable as softer boots, but in return you get responsiveness for aggressive riding.
2. DC boots run a little small. I normally wear a size 11 boot in all other brands (K2, 32, etc.) but I had to go with an 11.5 in these boots.
3. These boots are a little uncomfortable in the shins. Basically, the boots have stiff inserts which make the boot stiff, but there's not enough padding. As a result, there's alot of hard pressure on your shins when you go toe-side (reason why I dropped the rating to 4 stars). However, the problem is easily fixable with GOOD socks that have good shin padding. I actually use my mountaineering socks with these boots (Smartwool Mountaineering Sock).
Overall: bomb boots. I would definitely buy them again. Just make sure you get the right size (1/2 size up in my case) and get some extra padding on the shins.
