The REI Member Dividend

This hat is incredibly versatile. I use it for both everyday wear to shield my eyes from the sun and during rainy weather to help keep my glasses clear. It's lightweight, compact, and waterproof.

Awesome if you need *waterproof* and breathable. eVent is the best.

Cap style may not the best for continuous rain without a hood in which case you may want a fisherman or sombrero style from OR, etc. Too bad eVent is tough to find in this style. eVent could be overkill if worn under a hood, if the hood is providing most of the protection. Sometimes a softshell style under the hood will be enough.

Caps are great for eyeglass wearers like me.

I've got several of these in the car / house, etc.

I have been looking for a cap/hat that is water-/wind-proof without blowing my budget too much. REI Rangeclimber cap was the only one that came to my attention with above criteria.

Rangeclimber cap is made of eVent fabric, one of top-notch breatheable fabric, I guess. Also, inside of Rangeclimber cap, seams are taped similar to raincoat or tent rainfly.

A simple test in the kitchen sink proved that the cap is well water-proofed: a stream of water from the tap failed to wet the cap outside. I am sure that this cap will be great in supplementing my hooded rain coat when I find myself in rain while hiking/backpacking.
