          Clearly these gloves had been returned ("fishbone" plastic reattached to original packaging) to REI before I purchased them as a gift. The gift recipient tried them on, and there was an significant opening in the seam. Seems obvious that the gloves had been returned because of this flaw...very disappointed that REI would attempt to resell them!

          These are actually really great, the only thing is the "etip" finger and thumb parts wear out kind of easily. I used mine as liners on a mountain climb and just manipulating gear and pulling my backpack on and off wore them out a little bit-- they're still fine though.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
