I gave this jacket to my fiancé for light hiking days and for the park every morning when we take our dog out for a few hours. She loves it. Being in Austin means that it rarely gets very cold (I'm a Cali boy), but when it does it is accompanied by a strong biting wind. The jacket is perfect for keeping her comfortable in these conditions which in turn results in a longer more enjoyable outing with our dog. She also loves the randomness of the bright colors.

Bought this jacket for my 12 year old niece after the girls XL Patagonia jacket was too small for her, but fit her 8 yr old sister just fine. (Patagonia, you need to get your children's sizes dialed in a bit better). In any case, she lives in Santa Fe NM, where it gets quite cold, -5 or so at night and highs as low as 25 during the days, but often up to 50 or even 60. She is really happy with the style - critical for 12 year old girls no doubt, and says it is warm enough for her. I love the quality, and it is super cute on her. That's my 2 cents.

I bought it to wear when I am bike riding on a cool day. It's packable so fits nicely in my bike bag. It's great for everyday use as long as it's not too cold out. It's not made for really cold, blustery days. I love that the sleeves are actually long enough for me, but hate that it has no pockets for my hands. It does have two zippered pockets high on the chest for a cell phone or small coin purse. I would have given it four stars if it had hand pockets. I miss them.

Jacket wears great. I am tall and often have problems with the sleeve length, but not with this jacket.

Service and delivery comments:

Jacket was great, but had a little trouble with customer service. I went back to REI about 3 weeks after I purchased the jacket to find it marked down by $50.00. The woman at the register did not want to refund me the difference. This was the second time I went to REI. I became a member the first time b/c of the great return policy. She gave me attitude when I stated that I would then return the jacket and buy the newer cheaper jacket. She asked if that was really what I wanted to do. At this point she then agreed to refund me the difference for the sale price. Before leaving I had my parking pass validated, which she ended up not doing correctly. I had to go back in the store and get the ticket re-validated while my friend stayed with the car since I had to leave it in a reserved spot.

I looked a long time for a down jacket and tried on a lot of brands. Most are just too short and wide. I'm 5'8" and 120# with a long torso and this jacket actually fits me! Even the sleeves are long enough- I got a small. I need a jacket for warmth and layering when I'm rowing/coxing, but also wanted a jacket that I could wear casually that didn't make me look like the MIchelin Man. The no pockets was almost a deal breaker for me, but the fit outweighed that downside. I'm surprised that Marmot would leave them out. Pockets are so functional. This jacket is a mid weight down, so not super warm, but more of a sweater. That works perfect for me as I can add more layers if I need extra warmth, but it's also fine by itself in and out of the car or the house for casual wear. And yes it gets cold and we get snow too in Nashville.

Only problem is, I keep reaching downward to put my hands in pockets that aren't there! They're up high on the chest, so no good for warming the paws. If you can deal with that, this is a totally yummy jacket (in a fabulous loud green).

I fell in love with it when I put it on and the fit was wonderful, and the sleeves weren't too short!!...and then I went to slide my hands into the pockets.....and there aren't ANY!
I returned it for that reason....oh why oh why can't there be pockets??

I tried this on in the store and loved that it didn't have pockets! Ha, to each their own! For me, I prefer the silhouette without side pockets, and the chest pockets hold a few cards, cash, and my "non-smart" phone on one side and my keys on the other...perfect for carrying my son around the zoo (in a backpack carrier), running errands, and hopefully as a layer for a few winter sports. I love the dip down in the back, and I'm 5'10" with a long torso...it feels just right! The only con for me, which goes for anything with down, is that I always seem to leave a feather trail...oh well, worth it for me!
