    I bought this item because of its price, and its comfort level when tried on in store. Very lightweight and I trust Black Diamond products. I used it primarily for skiing in Western MD, and it performed well in high wind and cold conditions. I did not need a beanie under my helmet at all. It tucks in well to clothing, and it allows for breathability due to its thin fabric.

    The only thing I would suggest to Black Diamond for a future model of this, is that it needs a tab near the face opening where the mouth is so it does not get stretched when one would pull it down under their chin.

    Otherwise, this is a good piece to have for skiing, boarding, or even casual wear in cold, windy conditions. I also liked that it was not made in China

    I bike through Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota winters and this balaclava is great to keep frostbite away. I wore it while riding in -3 degrees Fahrenheit and within a couple blocks was nice and warm but not over heated.
