Comments about Current Designs Storm GT Kayak with Rudder:

This is a great boat for large paddlers with intermediate skills (I'm 6' 1" 160lbs, intermediate). It's stable and handles well. I've paddled it on tree choked rivers with the rudder up and it handled very well.

I gave it only 4 stars because the REI models have toe pedal rudder controls. Gas pedal rudder control would make it a 5 star (see below)

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Storm was equipped with toe pedal rudder control through 2012. I found this acceptable on a borrowed boat but it's a little slow in maneuvering. I had to search with my toes to find the controls. Could be a problem if a quick response is needed. CD went with gas pedal rudder controls on the 2013 model but I don't believe REI has them yet. I ordered and received a boat in August and it had toe pedals (2013 boats began shipping from CD August 1). I didn't take delivery of the boat - waiting for the gas pedal control.

      Service and delivery comments:

REI mistakenly told me their boats had the gas pedal rudder, but their response to the problem was excellent. Gave an immediate refund on the boat and a free shipping label for the skirt and cockpit cover that I had ordered to go with the boat.

Comments about Current Designs Storm GT Kayak with Rudder:

This is a great boat for long multi-day trips. We take multi-day trips and this boat handles the gear/weight very well no matter the water conditions. The boat tracks well, is a joy to paddle, and is fast. The only thing I found hard to do, was adjust the foot-pegs from inside the cockpit compared to other boats.

Overall it is a great boat for what we do.
