Comments about Delta Kayaks Delta 16 Kayak with Rudder:
This is my second boat. I had a heavy poly boat and had to get rid of it for space reasons. Having the space again, I wanted a boat I could get on and off my car solo and one that was significantly nicer. I've had it out thirty times now.
In addition to being light, the boat has proven very reliable. I'm out twice a week for a couple of hours if the winds aren't too high on Lake Washington or Puget Sound. The boat has no problems in waves up to a couple of choppy feet, though I couldn't tell you if it would handle more. I'm too much of a wuss to roll it, so I don't know how hard that would be. I've never even come close to dumping the craft, so I suppose it must be stable. The rudder is handy and easy to get at, though I rarely bother with it.
The hatches are totally workable, despite complaints I're read about the knobs. I like them, and the bungies over the hatches end that debate anyway. The little day hatch up front is excellent and easy to get into.
I love the the cabin fit. The seat back and thigh braces are perfect for me. I'm 5'10 (when I don't slouch) and weigh 160 lbs.
I dinged the boat on day one getting it onto the car, but the ABS plastic has been great regardless. No spreading cracks, unreasonable scratches, etc. The lime green color is also excellent. Oh, and the one I have does have re-entry paddle straps behind the cockpit, which is a nice touch should I ever need to deploy all my emergency stuff.
Sneak 1.7 Seals spray skirt fits it.
