Comments about Nikon Monarch 5 8 x 42 Waterproof Binoculars:

Bought these binoculars for a recent trip to Glacier National Park and they were perfect for the trip. We were fortunate enough to see a significant amount of wildlife and these binoculars felt like the animals were right in front of us. We have also used them at professional sporting events. They are very good if you want to focus in on one player or play but they aren't as good for an overall view of the play in football games. Also, they are a little bigger and heavier than I would have liked for our hiking experiences but not overwhelmingly so.

Using for birding. Not an expert, but glad I bought these number one rated bird watching binoculars. They are better than I ever hoped for. Bought for my husband, and they have brought him hours of outdoor enjoyment. He's soooo happy with them!

Comments about Nikon Monarch 5 8 x 42 Waterproof Binoculars:

These binoculars are well built and have good quality lenses. For the price they are real value for money. To step up in quality you would have to pay at least double. You are more likely to use them in rugged conditions when you haven't paid over $1000 for them. I will include them on all of my outdoor activities, knowing that they are up to the task, and knowing if they get damaged or worse I can afford to replace them.

Comments about Nikon Monarch 5 8 x 42 Waterproof Binoculars:

Very bright clear image, a beauty to look into. Feels solidly built. Waterproofing holds hope of the binocs surviving wet climate trips. Decently compact given their objective size. I also own the Nikon Action 8 x 40, these are rated considerably brighter, but i find them only slightly more so. These 8s are useful, but I think 10 power is more useful. Lens caps are important to protect optics, but fall off far too easily, especially for such an expensive binoc. Ironically, tho i look forward to having them on trips, but because of their great expense, i'm concerned about losing them....
