Comments about Columbia Stormin' Warm Rain Jacket - Men's:
This jacket would be better labeled as a shell or severe weather rain shell. There is no insulating material between the inner and outer fabric. If you keep that in mind and layer it as such, it's very useful. With just a short sleeve shirt in 50F, 5 mph winds, and a little rain I was very cold especially in the arms. With either a fleece or wool in 30F, ~15 mph winds, and no rain I was hot.
Pros: comfortable in a wide range of temperatures and activities if layered correctly. Well constructed, seam sealed, no leaks water beads off, very waterproof. All inner material feels nice, either soft or smooth. Neck is nicely protected.
Cons: side pockets are very high up. Double zipper construction makes it hard to get the main zipper started. Cordlock in hood right over the head is uncomfortable.
