Comments about REI Flex Lite Chair:
1. To heavy.
2. Requires 4 level points of floor contact for seating, so you can't sit on a hill or uneven surface.
3. Chair is bulkier and will take more pack space then other options.
4. The small legs will dig into soft soil.
5. The poles are think and heavier then other options.
6. Can't rock back and forth in this chair i.e. only one seated position.
7. The pointy legs won't let you sit in your tent with the chair, as leg ends might poke through tent floor.

Comments about REI Flex Lite Chair:
Three of us are using these now and find it to be a great chair for backpacking because of the light weight and small size. Very comfortable. In cooler weather you will need insulation because of the light weight net material. Also the feet will sink into duff material, sand, snow and such. We have already figured a solution for that though. Well made and look forward to years of use.

Comments about REI Flex Lite Chair:
When I saw this chair at REI I was skepitcal that it would be comfortable or hold my weight; I'm 6'1" 210#. Most folding chairs the back support is at a 90 degree angle to the seat, uncomfortable for any length of time. This chair is more like a hamick and is very comfortable. It sits low off the ground, about 9 inches, so I suppose it might be hard getting out of it if you have bad knees or are old. My wife calls it a baby chair but reluctantly admits it's more comfortable and easier to carry than our big clunky folding chairs.

Comments about REI Flex Lite Chair:
I just got back from a three day backpack trip where I used this chair every day. I wasn't sure if it would justify the weight, but considered it my "luxury" item. It was so awesome having a chair sitting outside my tent door to sit in to put my boots on, and I also sat by my campstove in the mornings in it and just contemplated the beautiful scenery. Although lightweight, it is surprisingly strong. It easily holds my husband, who is 240 lbs. securely. And although low to the ground, it is not hard to get out of. It is easy to put it together and to take it apart. The mesh seat helped keep the chair dry, even with the morning dew. Awesome product!

Comments about REI Flex Lite Chair:
great for carrying on carry-on bag for air travel. Would be more comfortable if the back were higher, but then it would weigh more and be larger to pack...a trade-off. Fits tightly in carry case and can be tricky to get back in, but after a few times you kinda get used to it and it gets easier.

Comments about REI Flex Lite Chair:
I take the chair on pack trips with my mules and horses. It is light weight and small but it supports me well and I weigh 200 lbs. I use it in my 3 man tent and around the fire at night. The legs will sink in on soft ground but I have had very few problems with soft ground around the camp site.

Comments about REI Flex Lite Chair:
I bought this chair to take on my bicycle tours. I had previously taken a 3-legged stool, but really wanted something with a back. Enter the Flexlite Chair! It was perfect for my needs as a bike tourist. Even when I am camping in a campground with a picnic table, I like the chair for comfort. It sets up quickly as well as folds up quickly. I was able to carry it in one of the bags on the rear rack of my bike with no problems. You'll notice I checked "duel purpose". Not only did I sit in it, but I also hung clothes from it when one of the parks didn't allow personal clotheslines. At night, I would take the seat part off and bring it into my tent in case of rain. I would put the frame of the chair up against my bike as a noise-making anti-theft device. For the weight-conscious bike tourist or backpacker, this is the perfect chair!

Comments about REI Flex Lite Chair:
It's perfect for setting up after a long day's hike. Prior to this chair, I had one of those 3-legged stool camp chairs. That was excellent for camping and taking on long backpacking trips, but I couldn't lean back in it since it had no backing. This chair has that backing, and it doesn't add any extra weight! Just strap it to the back of your pack for easy access!
I've also used it to sit in shallow water and cool off my feet...blissful
