Just got a Garmin Edge 500…. So far I love it. After 3 years my bicycle computer died and I figured it was time for an upgrade.
Some facts you may want to know, the edge will work on up to 3 bicycles the unit comes with 2 mounts and one sensor. It will work with other makers Ant+ sensors. My old computer used Ant+ for speed and cadence and I had 2 sets so…all I had t do is get an extra mount and I'm covered for all three of my primary bikes. Carbon road, daily commuter and touring. also the premium heart rate monitor is worth the extra bucks.
Setup was relatively easy even for this 53 year old.

I ride my bike about 6 days a week and commute about 4 days a week. I used to log every ride manually. Now using Garmin a week's worth of rides are logged automatically. Between Garmin and an online solution, Strava all my data is logged each time I plug my Garmin into my computer. Its all calculated and logged for each day/Month and tabulated for the year. This is really easy to use and everything can be trended easily so you can measure yourself and see how you are doing compared to previously data.

So far I've been loving this. I've even been using it while running to track my times/milage. Great tool for training or just see all the different #'s for fun.

Two tiny things that can be improved:

1) Turn by turn direction alerts happen after I make the turn to only verify or not verify my turn. Been trying to figure out how to adjust that so it happens maybe a few hundred feet before the turn.

2) Accuracy on mileage seems to be a bit off when I use it while running. I turn autopause off, but over the course of a five mile run I can be .3-.5 miles off compared to my friends forerunners. Very accurate on the bike though.

unit is brand new and will not pair with any of the garmin monitors. tried a battery reset and then a battery replace and still nothing. after paying this kind of money very disappointed with garmin support as well. told to return it to the shop or send it back for repair. wow new out of the box and does not work right. don't buy this consider another company. not worth the money or the hassle.
