Comments about Fenix Mini LD01 Flashlight:
When I opened opened my package up I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting small...but this was, well mini. I assumed it would be heading back to REI. Then i turned it on and I was immediately sold. Its as strong as any flashlight i have ever used yet it is super lightweight which I was looking for. It says it is waterproof but I have not tested it. The biggest concern for me is keeping up with the thing. I am already worried I am going to lose it.

Comments about Fenix Mini LD01 Flashlight:
Compact yet powerful, I used my Mini D101 a lot during 2+ weeks in Thailand and Laos. On the HIGH setting the Fenix's beam was stronger than our Laotian guide's handheld flashlight, I used it to illuminate night time zipline activities. A fellow Brit traveler was quite impressed by the D101's output.
The LOW setting was more than adequate for basic tasks in the tree top cabins.
I took 2 spare AAA lithium batteries - highly recommended - collectively they weighed the same as a single AAA alkaline battery yet have a much longer life.
Service and delivery comments:
As usualy REI was very prompt in delivery.

Comments about Fenix Mini LD01 Flashlight:
This light has a good even dispersion. I like that it has different power levels but I see little difference between the mid and high level. It lasts quite a while in the low setting using a single aaa battery(which is nice). It would be nice if the low setting was the first level when you turned it on. It would also be nice if the beam could be ajusted. These cons are minor though. I have mine attached to a caribener so it won't get lost as easy.

Comments about Fenix Mini LD01 Flashlight:
I have to admit, I wasn't too sure about the LD01 when I first saw it. I really like the "Mini Tactical Flashlights" and have quite a few of them, but I wasn't too sure about this one. All I have to say is, I'm glad I got one!
To start off, it's a small flashlight, which is great! The material on the housing of the LD01 is super tough, and it's waterproof, to boot. It can tail stand, which is another plus, and with the extremely durable pocket clip, it has an anti-roll feature. Awesome, so far. The default starts out in "medium" mode, which I like, seeing as medium is enough light to carry out your daily chores with this light. Now, for the bad stuff...
The LD01 didn't come with any instructions on how to put the clip on. Luckily, REI has a picture, so I just used that. The clip will fit on either end, although twisting the head to use the flashlight is a bother with the clip on that side. Honestly, that isn't too bad of an issue. The one thing that I don't like about the LD01 is the amount you have to twist to turn it off. If you twist it to off, and put pressure on the head, sometimes the light will turn on. That's a problem, if you have it in your pocket, or a bag. You have to turn it a little past the "Off" position just to make sure it stays off when you're carying it around.
That's about the only gripe I have about this flashlight. I compared it to another "Mini Tactical Flashlight" I carry around, which boasts 120 lumens and a tighter beam. To say the least, even at 72 lumens, the LD01 gives the other brand a run for it's money. Needless to say, it lasts longer, too. Not too bad for the LD01, if I do say so myself. Using "AAA" batteries is also a plus. The "Flood" of the light isn't too bad, either.
Overall, I think I have a new, favorite "Mini Tactical" to carry around, now.

Nice flashlight. The only thing that would be nice is if the low setting was the default setting.

Wow! For such a little device, this is outstanding. Just twist the end and you get three different brightness levels. I got it for my new Leatherman Ti. It fits perfectly with the provided LD01 clip along the outside of the Leatherman pouch. I cut a small piece of thin Velcro to loop around the pouch flap and the provided LD01 ring attachment as a safety strap, so it does not fall off the pouch. Perfect combo.

Comments about Fenix Mini LD01 Flashlight:
I have researched many single AAA battery lights and owned a few too. Out of what I've come across the Fenix LD01 is the best! This is a solid light that provides great throw, battery life, and compact design. This thing took a trip through the laundry cycle and still worked like brand new. The inside of the dryer took more of a beating than the light did. This is the first light I grab for hiking, camping, and backpacking trips. I like how the light consists of only 2 main pieces; the head and the body. This means there's only one gasket to worry about.
I've noticed that when using alkaline batteries the high beam stops functioning once the battery gets low. I've since switched to ultimate lithiums and have not had a problem since.
I also recommend purchasing it from a reputable source like REI because there are a lot of shady electronics dealers on the internet that will sell you last year's model in this year's packaging. Plus, if you get a faulty product, you'll have no problem exchanging it.
When it comes to flashlights, you get what you pay for. You won't be disappointed with this light!

Comments about Fenix Mini LD01 Flashlight:
This light has been in my pocket for about 2 years now and I use it almost every day. Shows a little wear on the black color but that is what I would expect for an item that has been on a key chain for two years. Very bright light, I like the ability to have three levels of light. The low level is about the same as the old flashlight I carried before this. Have not had any problems with the switch, light or caps. Been soaked in the rain, buried in sand, used in blowing dusty conditions yet it still works perfect.
If you really try you can notice some very high speed pulsing in the light on the low settings due to the way it switches on and off for low level. That is normal operation and not noticeable in normal use.
If I lost it, I would purchase another just as soon as I could.

Comments about Fenix Mini LD01 Flashlight:
I have carried this flashlight for over a year on my keychain. Some of the anodization on the knurling and the edges of the body have worn off, to be expected with aluminum rubbing against steel keys. It has been very useful whenever I needed to have a flashlight at night. Some might say that in the era of LED-equipped smartphones that a flashlight as everyday-carry is overkill, but this flashlight is so small and light it's easy to forget about it until you need it.
