      I have two of these for backpacking and day hiking. They work great, take up little space when empty, never leaked, don't slosh in my pack if I squeeze the air out.

      However, nearly impossible to fill these from a lake, pond, or stream pool without using another bottle, so I need to carry a rigid bottle in addition to these. Any water bottle you buy at the supermarket will work, I prefer the 1.5 liter size with small cap.

          I have had a few of these for over a year now. I use them constantly and always have one or 2 with me on backpacking trips. They are great for around camp, to carry extra water, or as a backup for when your reservoir decides to leak. They are very tough, one of mine has thousands of miles on it, and is still going strong!

            I recieved this as a Christmas gift a few years ago from my sister and until I used it I didn't think much of it. Since then I have been convinced that it is one of the best bottles/hydration systems you can buy. My first time out with it I just used it as a back up water source on a car trip. Then I started taking it when backpacking for extra water storage with little weight. A while ago I got the hydration hose and when my camelbak bladder was stolen, my platypus became my primary system. My favorite thing is that with multiple bottles you can just switch the hose from one bottle to the other, pack the first down small and get back on the trail.

            The only downside is the small opening size, but if you are only going to use clean water and dry it out between uses you shouldn't have a problem. I have used it backpacking, day hiking, and snowboarding for four years and haven't had one issue.

              This particular bottle is my favorite for backpacking. It rolls up and fits easily into the pouch for the Katadyn Hiker Filter when empty, weighs a little over an ounce, and is a great supplement to the filtering system. I typically fill it once I stop for the night, and it provides sufficient capacity for meals and drinking for the night and the next morning, meaning I only need to filter water once a day. I have had this item for a few years now, getting a few weeks use each year, and it has been durable and flawless.

                This bottle is great! Folds flat when empty, holds a lot of liquid w/ almost no added weight. I've used mine in Alaska, Belize, and the Western US on many fishing and hiking trips over the last 4 years and it's held up very well.

                I use this product while backpacking/hiking. I usually wear a hydration pouch on my back and have one of my friends carry this in their backpack as a backup. I hate the idea of using iodine tablets so its always good to have extra water just in case. Don't expect it to stay cold for long though, once the sun hits it, it turns almost instantly from ice to water.
