Comments about Patagonia Atom Sling Pack:

Nice design for bike commuting; weight nicely centered, very little side-to-side movement with the waist strap. Fits an iPad. Compression/gear straps on the outside aren't useful for compression or gear on a pack this size.

Needed improvements:
-retractable waist strap (or another way to keep the strap from getting underfoot when unfastened; the stuff pocket doesn't cut it for regular use)

-narrower shoulder strap in the neck area.

-built in raincover ala Deuter packs

-slip pocket on the shoulder strap that will accomodate and allow quick access to an iPhone-sized device.

-small but hot footprint on the back; some kind of "air-back" relief needed.

-expandable pocket on the outside rear to replace compression/gear straps.

I have an older model of this bag, and there is a lot that I love about it. However, I do wish that there were clasps on both sides as well as the middle of the bag so you could wear it on your body however you want to. As it is now, it must be worn on the right side...versatility is always a good thing! Other than that, I really like it overall. I am glad that I have an older model; all the new colors are UGLY. I don't like the mixing of the different colors on the bag, but hey; I'm a plain Jane. Also, the reviewer I read said you could fit an iphone sized device in the pocket on the strap, and that is NOT true. My phone is much smaller and still won't fit. I put chapstick in that pocket or loose change because it is small.

I purchased this bag to carry at Disney World for a ten day trip. Packs can get very heavy when you are out in the parks all day.I found the Atom Sling to be very light and very comfortable for all day wear. It carries a bit more than one would think. It distributes the weight well and my shoulders aren't sore by the end of the day. This is definitely a keeper. I used the utility straps on the outside to keep my hoodie handy for chilly AC blasted interiors. Great pack. Highly recommend!!

I took this to Egypt to hold my camera and water bottle in the desert and some other little stuff usually in my purse, like tissues. I wanted the ties on the front for a windbreaker for cold desert mornings. This bag was great, held everything and is acceptably gender neutral in black. The zipped pocket on top holds sunglasses perfectly. Haven't found a use for the little pocket on the strap, but I will. I found the almost hidden stowaway pockets for the belly band that I wasn't using for hiking. I was really happy I brought this on my trip!
