          I have only tried a few types of electrolytes so I can't speak much about it, but I thought I'd address the taste. I really like it. The other electrolyte drinks I tried all tasted like bland Gatorade or something, and they were too sugary. I just didn't find it refreshing. This one is not very sweet and the flavor is not very strong, but it has a great refreshing taste. And when my bottle is getting low and I top it off with plain water, it has no taste at all while drinking but the after-taste is good. I do not think it tastes like sugar substitute in the same way that diet drinks do.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

            This is a great product for long distance hiking, especially in the heat. I've tried many other products and this one gets me through the toughest hikes without any bloating or headaches. The taste isn't bad at all when drinking during a high intensity activity. In fact it's very refreshing. However, if you are just sitting around thinking it's a good down time drink then you may want to try something different.

              I've used this, CamelBak Elixir, NUUN, and GU Brew tablets quite extensively. I sweat profusely during exercise and will suffer severe cramping from electrolyte loss if I don't replenish during long rides, so I consider myself an ideal guinea pig for testing such products (not that I want to be a guinea pig, but I'll take one for the team in the name of science).

              The taste is quite bland and unappealing to me, so I find myself using at least a tab and a half per 24-oz. water bottle, if not two whole ones. Taste aside, the bottom line is that they work, and do not upset my stomach at all during long or intense rides. If flavor matters, I find the GU tablets to be the best of the four brands, but your mileage may vary. A five for effectiveness but a two for taste.

              Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

                Though it does have some electrolytes, they added this stevia sugar thing. As a result, no matter what the flavor is it all taste like sugar substitute.
