Comments about Mountainsmith Dog Pack - Small - 2010 Closeout:

I purchased the small size for my 50# dog based on the other review here. It fits him perfectly! I was also able to get it on my 90# dog (straps at the very end of their adjustable length). Loved this pack for backpacking. However I would suggest not putting valuables in for the dog to carry - no matter how convenient this may seem at the time. I put the camera in the pack for a short walk and the first thing he does is jump in a creek. Luckily, with the zippers all zipped up this pack is fairly water resistant and the camera made it back to land ok. Also, the handle came in quite handy as we had to manually pull him out of a couple rough spots. If you have a boy dog be sure to tuck the straps in after tightening so they don't "go" on them.

Comments about Mountainsmith Dog Pack - Small - 2010 Closeout:

Bought this for our Shepherd/husky mix. She's 70 lbs but 1) all the reviews say buy next size down and 2) she's older and we will only be using it for day hikes not backpacking. So the smaller size is just right: holds water/squishy bowl/ snacks/poop bags/ and room for more.
I found it easy to adjust and it stays where I need it.
It is hard to balance the load, whether light or heavier.
The dog doesnt mind it at all as far as we can tell and I like her being able to carry her water and waste.
