Comments about GT Series 3 Bike - 2011:
This is the bike that made me go from "Casual/Recreational" to "Avid Cyclist". I started out riding a mountain bike and soon began to look into road bikes. I became interested after a bike shop opened in my town, and I was looking for a way to increase my fitness level.
The GT series 3 has really delivered. My first ride was only around 20 miles at 14-16mph. My second was 41 miles averaging 18mph. I was hooked.
It has a stylish appearance with a great color scheme. Often I've been asked about my "carbon fiber" frame, it's aluminum but designed to have that carbon fiber look.
The ride is very comfortable and smooth. And shifting is a breeze with the Shimano Tiagra set up. And it climbs hills with ease.
I just have one disclaimer about this bike. GT goofed with the rim tape. They were trying to cut cost or something, and used a very cheap plastic tape. My local shop was able to replace the rim tape and tubes with no cost to me. GT is refunding him for their mistake. Unless you get this sorted out expect to have tubes deflate, happened twice to me. But the positive is that GT is taking steps to make the situation right.
Overall I have been very pleased with this bike! I would definitely recommend this to a friend of mine if they were in the market.
