Break your PRs without breaking the bank with the GT Series 3 road bike, a speedy road steed that features a compact, stiff aluminum frame and carbon fork.

  • Compact aluminum frame utilizes a hydroformed tubeset to enhance efficiency, weight reduction and handling
  • Carbon fork helps keep weight to a minimum and absorbs energy-draining road vibrations
  • Shimano Tiagra levers and rear derailleur work to provide seamless shifts so you can focus your energy through the FSA Vero compact crankset and 18 gear combinations
  • Tektro dual-pivot caliper brakes provide smooth deceleration for easy speed refinement
  • Alex rims are outfitted with Vittoria Zaffiro tires for smooth, efficient rolling
  • Platform pedals with toe cages accommodate many types of shoes
  • Specs on the GT Series 3 road bike are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about GT Series 3 Bike - 2011:

This is the bike that made me go from "Casual/Recreational" to "Avid Cyclist". I started out riding a mountain bike and soon began to look into road bikes. I became interested after a bike shop opened in my town, and I was looking for a way to increase my fitness level.

The GT series 3 has really delivered. My first ride was only around 20 miles at 14-16mph. My second was 41 miles averaging 18mph. I was hooked.

It has a stylish appearance with a great color scheme. Often I've been asked about my "carbon fiber" frame, it's aluminum but designed to have that carbon fiber look.

The ride is very comfortable and smooth. And shifting is a breeze with the Shimano Tiagra set up. And it climbs hills with ease.

I just have one disclaimer about this bike. GT goofed with the rim tape. They were trying to cut cost or something, and used a very cheap plastic tape. My local shop was able to replace the rim tape and tubes with no cost to me. GT is refunding him for their mistake. Unless you get this sorted out expect to have tubes deflate, happened twice to me. But the positive is that GT is taking steps to make the situation right.

Overall I have been very pleased with this bike! I would definitely recommend this to a friend of mine if they were in the market.
